Welcome to the
PHENIX
Vanderbilt Simulation Group web page. Our group coordinated PHENIX simulation
development from 1992 to 2006, and this site contains some of the simulation
documentation written during that time. In January 2007
Hugo Pereira took charge of
simulation coordination. It is anticipated that simulation documentation
will be centralized in a user-edited
Wikipedia system in the near future. For now
we at Vanderbilt are maintaining this site during the transition period.
Originally simulation documentation was provided in a hard copy manual
written in Latex source code. You can see the last version of that manual
in WWW form at the 1999 PISA Manual,
where PISA is an acronym for Phenix Integrated
Simulation Application.
While this 1999 manual contains useful details about the structure of PISA,
the manual is obsolete in many sections. After 1999, documentation was hung
off dedicated WWW pages supported by a small group of people. Because of
the difficulty of keeping the documentation completely up to date, it was
decided 2006 to go to a user-supported, user-edited
documentation system
based on the wikipedia technology.
The purpose of this WWW site is to provide the PHENIX computing
community with reference to previously generated simulation documentation.
You can find this documentation in the Simulation and the
Tutorial menu buttons on the left panel of this page.
The Vanderbilt Simulation group also has coordinated Simulation Projects which generate
simulation events required for specific physics topics. We will continue
to fulfill this role in PHENIX. People
may request those through the RunServer button in
the left panel of this page. This link will provided project details
and output files. (The RunServer system is presently being upgraded).
Since this is a service, any input and suggestions are welcomed and
your patience and forbearance will always be much appreciated.
Please send comments/suggestions
